Broadleaf Weed Management—Targeted Treatments

Dandelions, clover, plantain, and other broadleaf intruders exploit thin turf and nutrient imbalances. The strongest defense is a thick, vigorously growing lawn; when weeds appear, a timely herbicide spot-treatment regains control.

Optimal Treatment Windows

  • Spring flush (May–mid-June): Plants are actively leafing and most vulnerable.

  • Fall regrowth (September–early October): Targets young seedlings before winter.

An Integrated Approach

  • Keep soil pH between 6.5–7.0 for peak nutrient availability.

  • Mow at recommended height to shade out weed seedlings.

  • When using selective broadleaf herbicides, follow label rates and never treat during heat stress or drought.
